Horizon........exploring extremity
LOGO:
The logo expresses the goals of the society beautifully. The saffron coloured area represents freedom of innovation, ideas and intellect .The steel grey part represents determination, discipline and dedication. When these two areas converge, any tough job in hand becomes uncomplicated. The logo points towards both the dimensions, hence HORIZON…..exploring extremity.
IDEOLOGY:
Every year, thousands of engineers pass out from colleges all over India. Most of these just create a pool of “don’t like it, but will take“kind of skill force.
The four years that students spend in the college teaches them just high survival skills (most of us like to give name them as flexibility, versatility and so on).
Horizon, working under the aegis of department of applied sciences and humanities has different ideology-students of AKGEC can become the leaders in their fields; and they need to be.
The college provides surfeit scope and HORIZON is students’ initiative by providing vital inputs, till unexplored.
Horizon conducts activities that enable the students developing specific skills, perspectives and ideas that can be successfully implemented. Besides this students also learn soft skills like effective communication, leadership, team work, negotiations etc.
BACKGROUND:
Horizon was incepted in October 2006 with Mrs. Manjeet Kalra as protagonist. It conducted all literary events successfully during VIBRATIONS 2006. In addition, to make generally dormant 1st year students feel them as a part of Vibrations 2006, an event ‘style icon’ was organized exclusively for them with each and every student participating with enthusiasm and positive attitude.
PROFILE:
The society is working under the aegis of Department of Applied Sciences and Humanities with Prof. V.K. Parashar (HOD) as chief and Mrs. Manjeet Kalra as faculty coordinator.
The members of the society are competent and experienced enough to innovate, initiate, generate ideas and activate various exercises to strive towards their aims and achieve goals. The following events have been organized in past:-
Literary:-Essay, Poems, Debates, Script writing
Management:-Budding Barons, Paper Presentation, Avant Garde
Applied sciences:-Mathematics Olympiad
Cultural:-Tashan (special event), Style Icon
